What if Amber or Wes couldn’t care for you anymore?

A proposed bill (HB 3749) could block incredible paramedics like them from providing IV fluids, vitamins, and medications - essential services WELL within their scope of practice.

Texas House Bill 3749 (HB 3749), also known as "Jenifer's Law," is poised to significantly impact mobile IV therapy businesses like Rapid Relief Mobile IV in Texas. The bill, introduced in response to a tragic incident involving an IV therapy procedure, aims to enhance patient safety by imposing stricter regulations on elective intravenous therapy services .

Key Provisions of HB 3749 Affecting Mobile IV Therapy Businesses:
  1. Enhanced Medical Oversight: The bill mandates increased physician involvement in IV therapy services. This includes requirements for medical directors to oversee procedures, ensuring that treatments are administered under appropriate medical supervision .
  2. Staff Qualifications and Training: HB 3749 stipulates that only qualified healthcare professionals (This does not impact our staff), such as registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), or physician assistants (PAs), can administer IV therapies. These professionals must operate under the delegation and supervision of a licensed physician, ensuring that staff are adequately trained and credentialed. (But this does.)
  3. Operational Compliance: Mobile IV therapy providers will need to establish protocols that align with the new regulatory framework. This includes maintaining detailed records of procedures, obtaining informed consent from patients, and adhering to standardized treatment guidelines to ensure patient safety and compliance with the law.

Implications for Rapid Relief Mobile IV:
  • Operational Adjustments: Mobile IV businesses would need to revise its operational procedures to incorporate the required medical oversight and ensure that all staff meet the new qualification standards.
  • Increased Compliance Costs: Implementing the necessary changes to comply with HB 3749 may result in increased operational costs, including hiring qualified medical personnel and investing in staff training programs.
  • Legal and Regulatory Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of legal requirements and potential amendments to HB 3749 will be essential to maintain compliance and adapt to any future regulatory changes.

Paramedics save lives and keep us going. Don’t stand by while their ability to help is taken away!
